Kelly got started in Auto Detailing in the end of 2009 after the economic crisis hit in 2007-2008 and lost her long-time employment as a Senior Loan Officer in the home lending division of a national bank. Hardship struck many people during that period of time. She was a single mother of 4 children struggling to make ends meet on unemployment while looking for other lending positions. She needed to sell her vehicles and get 1 economical vehicle rather than the Escalade and Sports car she currently had. She called around her local area and nobody was detailing high end autos. She drove her cars over 1 hour away to get professionally detailed and ready for sale.

Kelly realized there was a need in her area for professional auto detailing services. After lots of prayer, she decided to take an auto detail 101 class and start a small business in her home garage until she secured another position in the financial industry. She got her DBA and officially began Showroom Auto Detailing, January 21, 2010. The first two years were quite a struggle as all she had was an old shop vac, a little Bissell green $99 clean machine she got for Christmas from her parents a few years back, q-tips and some toothbrushes. She made flyers and hung them around town. Soon 1 job turned into 2 then 3 and so on. Eventually the word spread, and her driveway began to fill up with cars to detail. She liquidated her last asset, her 401k, to buy the tools she needed to really do a professional job. This included 3 brand new commercial shop vacs and a commercial steam cleaner and extractor to shampoo carpets and upholstery. She got so busy she could not keep up, that’s when her 2 daughters Jasmyn age 11 and Janae age 10 started to help her after school everyday and on the weekends.

They became a vital part of the business even at a young age, they knew this is how we put food on the table and really learned work ethic and the value of a dollar. It was quite difficult in the winter months in Northern Michigan, the home garage was barely insulated and had to be heated with kerosene space heaters that could not run for long as the fumes were too strong. Our hands would go numb after a few hours of scrubbing in the single digit temperatures. We would have to go inside and make coffee to warm up! Everyday Jasmyn and Janae were encouraging and really kept everyone from giving up.

Our bodies hurt from hours of bending and scrubbing day in and day out, but Perseverance and Faith kept us going.

We detailed like this for 7 long years. As the business grew by word of mouth, we outgrew our home garage. We made the decision to sell our home and to build a commercial detail shop in the city limits. This new facility was like a detailer’s heaven. God had really answered our prayers! From Unemployment, Bankruptcy, no experience detailing or running a business to designing and building a brand-new state of the art detail shop with the help of her parents and children by her side this dream became a reality.

Kelly’s mission from day one was work hard, provide exceptional customer service along with the highest quality workmanship possible. She takes great pride in her work and is thankful for each and every customer that has gotten her to where she is now.

This led to Kelly’s latest venture and another answer to prayer, the introduction of Royal Reflections, Premium Auto Detailing Products. Kelly has worked closely with an amazing chemist to develop her very own line of high-quality detailing products.
